A pond is a body
of standing water, either natural or man-made, that is usually
smaller than a lake. A wide variety of man-made bodies of water
are classified as ponds, including water gardens, water features
and koi ponds; all designed for aesthetic ornamentation as
landscape or architectural features. Often the pond will
include a waterfall or fountain as a feature. A patio (from the
Spanish: patio meaning 'back garden' or 'backyard') is an
outdoor space generally used for dining or recreation that
adjoins a residence and is typically paved. These two
"backyard" features are many times place in close proximity in
order for one to be enjoyed from the other.
